There may be a collection of Alpacas larger than our
herd, but when you shop for Alpacas you are purchasing more than just an animal.
You are purchasing a long term relationship to help you succeed. We are
happy to help.
JoYed Alpaca Country Gift Shoppe - Now Open all year. The shop is located at the new Shepherd's Oak Visitor's Center. We have all kinds of Alpaca and wool garments, accessories, Teddy Bears, Farm Yarns, candles, Local Honey, Handmade soaps, Collectibles, Handmade Country arts and many other wonderful homespun treasures. Sales - When you visit The Shepherd's Oak you will not receive a high pressured sales pitch. We look forward to meeting new people and taking you through a process which matches you with Alpacas which will help meet your Alpaca dreams. We do not sell on Hype which many farm attempt to use to sell you their Alpacas. We sell great U.S. Alpacas. Country of Origin has no influence on the quality of an Alpaca. Quality choices are based upon individuals, not a country. We have a wide selection of bloodlines from Chile, Peru and Bolivia.
Pricing - The Shepherd's Oak is a friendly simple place. We do not have fancy facilities, expensive landscapes or a large underpaid staff. We rely on price efficient advertising and happy clients to promote the Alpacas. Farm operations and development are all done by the family & friends, not a large paid staff. All these things keep overhead low and pricing very reasonable. Package prices are available.
Financing - Financing is also available on many of the Alpacas. A down payment is required along with monthly payments and insurance.
Boarding - All
animals are given the same personal attention. There be typically be
someone around the farm watching over all the time. Your Alpaca will be
provided the best care possible. We work with five local vets, two of
which, Dr.s Dave & Lisa Grasso, are located just
across the field, several Camelid specialist in Ohio and Ohio State
University. If you need temporary
boarding for your new alpacas while you ready their new home or a single
weanling in need of company, long term boarding for your Alpaca investment or
consignment sale The Shepherd's Oak offers a safe caring environment for your
special friend. Base boarding price is $2.50 per day with many different
types of discounts available.
Consulting - I have invested a lot of time and money into continuing education for my Alpaca Business. I spent two years watching and researching the Alpaca Industry before purchasing my first Alpacas and entering into this business full time. As they years have passed my operation has grown to about 90 Alpacas and some other critters. My continuing education has led me to become a certified Alpaca Judge, judging Alpacas all over the country. If you are looking for help in setting up your new farm, improving your existing farm, or auction shopping call for help. I am also available for onsite consultations and speaking engagements.
Stud Service - We are proud to offer some great genetics for your herd diversification and improvement. Both Suri and Huacaya Alpaca Herdsires are available. Breeding fees begin at $1000. Check out our Stud Page for our female production guarantee. Will offer seasonal discounts, multiple discounts and client discounts. Breeding packages are available for the small herd not interested in owning a male.
Consignment
- A portion of the herd diversity is due to consignment alpacas from other
farms. We are able to provide cross country blood lines locally.
Consignment is a great way to help our small herd clients market their
offspring cost effectively. This marketing consolidation also helps
shopping clients view production of many different farms at one location and
purchase at package pricing.
Marketing - A large bit of any business is marketing. We are very proud of our shoestring marketing program. If you are looking for efficient help in marketing your farm look us up. We welcome clients to participate with us in many of the events which we do throughout the year. We have developed a great network of clients who are able to work well with each other with great success.

Public Relations - We are very proud of of our Alpacas and the Alpaca Industry. You will often find us out at public events with the Alpacas. The Shepherd's Oak is the proud sponsor of the Delaware County HumZinger 4-H Club. We attend fairs, festivals, and other public events to promote the farm and the Alpaca Industry. Students enjoy field trips to the farm to enjoy the animals and wildlife at The Shepherd's Oak. I also do presentations to other clubs and groups on the Alpaca. Getting the word out on Alpacas is a big and important job for us.
